Open data heralds the internet’s next exciting phase

Considered one of the pioneering fathers of the internet, Berners-Lee believes we are only at the dawn of an even more exciting era - the era of open data and the semantic web, where almost every feasible physical device or piece of data will…

“A man decided that he would change the world.
But, he wasn’t successful.
So he decided to change the country.
But, he wasn’t successful.
So he decided to change his community.
But, he wasn’t successful.
So he decided to change his street.
But, he wasn’t successful.
So he decided to change his family.

Dear Sirs and Sirettes,

Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow (ABTT) would like it entered into the record that as of January 30th, 2012, the sum total of our donations was $1,023,121.24.

Running is the classical road to self-consciousness, self-awareness and self-reliance. Independence is the outstanding characteristic of the runner. He learns the harsh reality of his physical and mental limitations when he runs. He learns that personal commitment, sacrifice and determination are his only means to betterment. Runners only get promoted through self-conquest.

#me; Run more…faster

According to my helpful countdown timer, there are officially:

79 days left until Austin Marathon! (seems like many and few simultaneously)

125 mi. completed to date

12.2 mi. longest run completed

Still only 26.2 mi. that matter.

Training Breakthrough

I’ll preface my epiphany by saying that I’ve been absent for three weeks from posting due to my utter lack of motivation for anything related to marathon training. Unfortunately, I can only claim that my low point came after only a month and a half of training so I don’t even warrant the excuse of too much hard work already complete.

However, after a brief two week hiatus from running, I stumbled upon an interesting Tumblr post that showed a photograph of a marathon spectator with a cheaply designed cardboard sign simply stating the following, “You have only one option, finish the fucking marathon.”

Contrary to the standard effect of expletives in inspirational signs, this one stuck with me. Later that weekend, I completed the longest run to date at 12.2 mi. and not only did I complete the run in a personally defined decent time, I felt EXCELLENT through the entirety of the run.

And thus, my epiphany at ~mi. 8.4 was a.) I finally felt happy during my run, and not just after whilst relaxing, and b.) I fully intend to finish this fucking marathon.
